Alan - I find your link to the Deakin MOO/MUD oriented site an exemplary piece
of a constructivist learning environment. It provides a smooth and playful
interface to course content worth considering. Yet, there is a point I would
like to make concerning accessibility: there is only one screen (foyer.htm)
which includes text links as a complement/alternative to the graphical
interface, thus allowing access to screen reader/synthetic speech users. Most of
the other pages are virtually inaccessible.
Accessibility should be synonymous to open learning as much as constructivist
learning environments are. Besides, MOO/MUD environments, which I believe are
naturally constructivist, are almost exclusively related to textual
presentation, using graphics as mere probs.
http://209.170.56.241/olympiad/prog04/evroom.htm , a prototypal attempt, might
serve as a comparison to the otherwise excellent Deakin initiative.

Cheers,
