Dear all,
Apologize for crossposting.
We are initiating a working group engaged in 3D visualization projects
under the auspicies of the International Forum of Educatinal Technology
& Society (http://ifets.gmd.de/). Initially we plan to start activities
in biology and medicine, but if other experts join the team, we shall
certainly welcome extensions in other areas of interest accordingly. The
participation is voluntary, but we plan to commercialize our efforts to
obtain funds for survival. Technically we start in the VRML and HTML
environment, but also other techniques for visualization are welcome.
Welcome are all who can offer components for biomedical visualization
projects like text, photographs, paintings, sound, 3D worlds and of
course management.

Please note that this location is open for only two weeks. There you
will find almost finished projects where in addition to some refinement
of the VRML worlds there have to be added "traditional" images
(photographs and paintings) to enable "smooth" transition into VRML
worlds.
At some point, when the proposed working group has achieved some
practical results, attempt will be made to bring all the achievements to
people at affordable price.

What I am working on
I am a biologist with a lot of computer experience. I devote my time to
the VRML multimedial visualization of biological structures and
processes. The products are designed as a teaching aid for biology and
medicine in high and secondary schools. If you find them interesting or
if you encounter a problem, don't hesitate to contact me! I studied
biology at the Universtiy of Ljubljana, Slovenia and did the work for my
Ph. D. at the Max-Planck Institute in Seewiesen, Germany. The theme was
neurophysiology in insects (crickets). I also studied in Berlin the
mechanisms of learning in honeybees using whole-cell patch-clamp
techniques. In the meantime I was involved in visualization of
biological data. I am a member of Geometrek team, Internet biologists,
laboratory for biomedical visualization of the University Ljubljana and
director of the center for scientific visualization - AMNIM, Ljubljana.
