Hi Heather,
In the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, we have used online
evaluation extensively for our end-of-semester course evaluation. We have
developed two systems. One has the acronym COSSET and the other OSTEI.
COSSET is designed for centralized teaching evaluation through the web. It
allows questionnaires to be put on the web to collect students' responses
to teaching evaluation questionnaires. OSTEI is a different system which
allows instructors to develop their own questionnaires and then collect
students' responses through the web. Results so far are quite positive.
Average response rate using COSSET is around 75%. We have also done
systematic study to compare the COSSET with traditional paper-based system,
and found the results quite favourable.
