Rich,

We started offering Distance Education/Online courses during the Fall, 1998
semester. Enclosed are the answers to your questions using the experience
we have acquired:

#1 regarding face2face classroom time:
This depends strictly on the instructor. The instructor is allowed to
dictate if and when they will require a lecture type format. Our
instructors generally depend on using chats, email and bulletin boards for
interaction. We use WebCT, which allows all of those functions to be used
with ease.

#2 regarding the approval process
We have only offered courses that have been previously approved through our
Academic Council and the IHL. We submit these courses to the IHL, then
submit them to the SREC (Southern Regional Electronic Campus) of which USM
is a member.

#3 regarding tuition/fees
Our tuition/fees are the same.

#4 regarding out-of-state tuition
We do not charge out-of-state tuition.

If I can help any other way, give me a call.

Thanks,
Carole Bullock

Don't let the opinions of the average man sway you. Dream, and he thinks you're crazy. Succeed, and he thinks you're lucky. Acquire wealth, and he thinks you're greedy. Pay no attention. He simply doesn't understand. - Oprah's web site
