Dear Colleagues,

I am looking for some information about using CMC to support online PBL
discussion groups. Can anyone refer me to any research/references which
address the issues of how many students can one lecturer be expected to
support? Are there any guidelines on staff to student ratios and/or the
optimum size of discussion groups? Are self-managing groups a viable
option? In our university we have one lecturer and two tutors (maybe?) who
wish to conduct online discussion groups for an external subject with over
200 students. Any suggestions, apart from don't even try?
