Dear Colleague,

I send you this e-mail to alert you to the "Conference on Co-operation in
the Field of Terminology in Europe" and to inform you about the European
Association for Terminology (EAFT).

1. The Conference
The "Conference on Co-operation in the Field of Terminology in Europe" will
take place on May 17, 18 and 19. It is organised by the EAFT, in
co-operation with the following national/regional terminology associations:
AETER (Spain)
Ass.I.Term (Italy)
BriTerm (United Kingdom)
DANTERM (Denmark)
DTT (Germany)
ELETO (Greece)
NL-TERM (The Netherlands and Flanders)
ProTLS (France)
TermRom-Bucarest (Romania)
TermRom-Moldova (Moldavia)

100 EUR per person

2. The EAFT
The key objectives of the EAFT are:
· to provide a Europe-wide platform for the promotion and co-ordination of
  terminological activities and to promote the professional character of
  terminology;
· to stimulate the awareness of the relevance of terminology for Information
and
  Communication Technology (ICT) and Language Engineering (LE) applications;
· to actively liaise with other organisations, associations and institutions
  in the terminology sector at a national, European and inter-national level.

Membership benefits:
EAFT members receive regularly updated information on terminological
activities through:
· the "Update", the electronic Newsletter of the EAFT;
· the European Terminology Information Server (ETIS);
· the transactions of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and related publications.

EAFT members also benefit from preferential rates for EAFT conferences and
workshops.

Rebates
The members of the EAFT may enjoy rebates on many publications and documents
offered by:
· Institut Universitari de Lingüística Aplicada (IULA), Barcelona;
· TermNet, Vienna;
· John Benjamins Publishing Company, Amsterdam;
· Union Latine, Paris;
· Le Centre de Terminologie de Bruxelles, Brussels.

An up-to-date and complete list of rebates is included in the "Update", the
electronic newsletter of the EAFT.

Membership fees:

During the annual General Assembly, the membership fee for natural and legal
members as well as for students is agreed on. The current Membership fees are:
- students: 15 ECU + 4 ECU bank fees, or 7 ECU bank fees if you pay by
                   cheque;
- individuals: 25 ECU + 4 ECU bank fees, or 7 ECU bank fees if you pay by
                   cheque;
- legal entities: 100 ECU + 4 ECU bank fees, or 7 ECU bank fees if you pay by
                   cheque)
