Dear IFETS-Forum Members,
** 1999 SIG/Tel Online Learning Awards **
Are you and your students involved in an original, online learning
project? If so, you may wish to enter the "1999 SIG/Tel Online Learning
Awards." Since 1991,the Special Interest Group for
TeleLearning(SIG/Tel), a division of the International Society for
Technology in Education (ISTE), has recognized creative teachers for
their pioneering use of telecommunication networks to provide
innovative learning opportunities for students from kindergarten
through college (grades 13-16).
Contest winners will be awarded a free membership in the Special
Interest Group for Telelearning and the International Society for
Technology in Education. They will also receive invitations to present
their activity plans at the National Educational Computing Conference
(NECC '99) and SIG/Tel will publish the winning entries, and the
respective authors' reflections, in its quarterly publication, the
Journal of Online Learning. Winners will receive a free annual
subscription to the Journal of Online Learning and Learning and Leading
with Technology.
PLEASE NOTE: all entries must describe telecomputing activities that
will be completed by June 1, 1999. The SIG/Tel panel of judges will
announce the five winning entries and ten honorable mentions at NECC
'99 in Atlantic City, New Jersey (June 22-24).
Entries must be submitted via electronic mail before the submission
deadline: April 1, 1999. For more information, please contact the contest
coordinator, Kathy Kothmann <kathyk@bihs.net>.
** CONTEST PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS **
Describe and evaluate an effective, educational activity that you
designed and coordinated to incorporate telecomputing in the classroom.
Entries will be judged on the basis of the following criteria:
- Educational Merit: How does this project relate to classrooms
objectives.?
- Originality and Creativity of Design
- Relevance of telecomputing activity to project design and objects.
- Geographic Diversity and Collaboration
- Strength of Assessment/Evaluation Plan
Please complete the template below, limiting your entry to 1000 words,
and submit it to the contest coordinator, Kathy Kothmann
