This is in response to your question about a system that enables
the learner to communicate while reviewing course content. I use
the WEBCT System for online learning and it provides a function
enabling the student to link to chat areas and email forums directly
from the course content section the student is reviewing. I don't
know if this addresses your situation completely, since it does
require the instructor to be using the system in order to gain this
advantage.
