Dear Colleagues

I am proud to inform that our forum has achieved new heights since
its conception six months ago with five successful formal discussions
(sixth discussion just starting), 'Educational Technology & Society'
journal in its second issue and having more than 1100 esteemed members
from all over the world. This is important because the forum has
evolved completely by voluntary support of its members.

Now to make forum even more useful to its members and to the society,
many more activities are being planned for the new year and I invite
all of you to provide your active voluntary support in whatever way
you can. Following are some activities which we envisage to undertake.
Please write to me at kinshuk@ieee.org if you have any comments or if
you would like to see some other tasks to be started in the forum.

1. Forum's website has been in continuous update process and recently
many parts of the website are also translated in German (courtesy Prof.
 R. Oppermann & Mr. H. Simm) and Polish (courtesy Mrs. D. Mularczyk)
languages. A Bulgarian version is also coming soon. If you would like
to provide your support for any other language (even for a couple of
pages), please write to me at
kinshuk@ieee.org

2. We have added a page on website where various discussion topics are
being added which have been suggested by our members in their messages.
We shall try to bring future formal discussions on these topics whenever
possible. If you would like to see discussions in any other topic,
please suggest using 'Formal discussion themes suggestions' form at:
http://zeus.gmd.de/ifets/theme_suggest.html

3. The area 'Interesting links and resources' on website is envisaged
to be a rich resource for educators and educational system developers.
To develop this area in great depth, we plan to make small groups
taking voluntary responsibilities for enriching various areas of
disciplines, for example:
* Educational research * Educational multimedia * Online learning
* Educational courseware * Intelligent educational systems * many
more ....

If you would like to lead any such area or would like to work in
such groups, please let me know at kinshuk@ieee.org

Alternatively, if you would like to provide interesting links to be
added on website, please suggest them using 'new links suggestions
form' at:
http://zeus.gmd.de/ifets/resLinks_form.html

4. We also plan to start forum activities specially suited for
specific geographic regions, or specific to particular languages.
For example, discussions could be started in other languages (using
separate discussion list). Summaries of discussions in English could
be translated to other languages and vice-versa. Things are quite open
at this end, so please suggest if you have any ideas what activities
could be suited, and how you think, we could proceed. Please send your
suggestions to me at kinshuk@ieee.org

5. If you have ideas for any other activities, please feel free to
write to me. It is your support which can make the forum a success for
all of us and our colleagues and students.

Sincere regards,

Kinshuk
