I am working on an EU funded ADAPT project which is trialling this. The
project is called LSSB (Learning Support for Small Business) and is
based inthe West Midlands of the UK (around Birmingham) 4 of the project
partners are providing courses and these are being integrated into one
'presentation' system via a website. We have also had considerable
interest from other academic, training and govenrment agencies such as
the DTI.

The aim of the project is to present Just in Time/Just Enough training
for small businesses. This group is under considerable time pressure and
therefore need quick, short, readily available solutions to their
immediately perceived information or knowledge-lacking problems.

At the moment, as this will be a trial for the next 18months, these
'courses' (which vary widely in length, scope and level) will not be
assessed and are available free to project companies. There will be
facilitated subject based discussion groups (since several courses may
cover different aaspects of the same subject area at different
length/level etc), assignments sent to tutors for marking and feedback
and each company has a dedicated facilitator. Currently any marking of
work for a course will be done by the institution providing the course.

LSSB, since it has such a lovely complexity of courses, lengths, levels,
presentation media, is also trialling an innovative navigational
approach aimed at helping time-stressed workers find the information
they need even when they might not know how to express it.

So, not REAL but a working trial.
