One interesting twist with using multiple choice questions for promoting
higher order thinking is that it is possible to have more than one "correct"
answer, in fact all answers might be correct, depending on which direction
the higher order thinking takes. This makes it more useful in inspiring
thinking and less useful as a measurement tool. It might be used to
determine the preferred mode of thinking used by each student. For example,
an analysis approach might lead to answer A, while a synthesis approach
might lead to answer B, and a systems approach might lead to answer C.
