Interactive Multimedia in Education and Training
A book edited by Sanjaya Mishra and Ramesh C. Sharma
Website: http://imet-idea.0catch.com/CFC.htm
Introduction
With the developments in Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs)
in general and Multimedia capabilities of the computers in particular, the
world of education and training has seen a number of applications of these
technologies, which support and enhance the quality of student learning. The
multimedia as opposed to the erstwhile multiple media strategies have
offered opportunities to instructional designers to integrate multiple media
that can attract multiple senses of the learners and provide them a complete
learning environment. However, not much is known about the true
effectiveness of multimedia for learning. This is so either because of poor
research design or lack of understanding of the capabilities of the
multimedia itself. In order to promote the use of multimedia in education
and training, it still becomes a difficult task to convince administrators
and policy-makers in absence of a qualified guide or source book. Once the
instructional effectiveness of the technology is established conclusively,
more and more teachers and administrators would prefer to use multimedia in
education and training.
Overall objectives of the book
The book aims to provide relevant theoretical frameworks and latest
empirical research findings in the area of interactive multimedia
applications in education and training. The overall objective of this unique
book is to showcase and present a one-stop reference to teachers,
educational administrators, researchers and educational policy-makers on
innovations and effectiveness of interactive multimedia in education and
training. The book intends to cover beyond what, why and how of multimedia
in education and training.
