Call for Papers

Special Issue of the
Journal of Information Technology Education:
Information Technology in the Assessment Process of Student Learning

Submission Deadline: November 10, 2002

The academically peer refereed Journal of Information Technology
Education (JITE) endeavors to improve IT Education around the world,
as shown in our mission statement. JITE is published in print by
subscription and its articles also appear online free of charge. This
arrangement provides authors with the widest possible readership
while ensuring that their papers are fully accepted as bona fide.
This special issue of the Journal of Information Technology Education
( JITE ) is seeking original unpublished research articles describing
recent advances in the use of Information Technology in the
Assessment Process of Student Learning.

Topics of interests include, but are not limited to:

* Placement, Formative, Summative and Self-Assessment: Novel
Tools and Approaches
* Innovation in Assessment
                               * New Question Types
                               * Adaptive Systems
                               * Addressing the Requirements of
Students with Special Needs
                               * Multiculturality and Multilinguality Issues
                               * Assessing High Order Skills
* Assessment Issues in Virtual Learning Environments
* Diagnostic Testing
* Pedagogical Issues in Question Design And Content
* Impact on Institutional Teaching and Learning Strategies
* Quality Assurance Issues
* Evaluation of Assessment Engines
* Assessment & Standards

Authors are encouraged to submit their paper electronically, as an
email attachment, to the guest editor Salvatore Valenti at the
address valenti@inform.unian.it . Please indicate clearly that the
submission is for the JITE special issue. Electronic submissions must
be in Microsoft Word, RTF, or Acrobat PDF format.

Although there is no restriction on length, preference will be given
to papers of no more than 15 pages, for the sake of greater diversity
and more thorough reviewing. (Authors are therefore encouraged to be
as concise as possible).

Final drafts of manuscripts that are accepted for publication must
adhere to the JITE formatting guidelines, available at the following
URL: http://jite.org/SubmissionGuidelines.htm
All submitted papers will be blind refereed according to the usual
JITE refereeing process.

IMPORTANT DATES:

Paper Submission: November 10, 2002
Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: April 1, 2003
Final Version of the Paper: July 10, 2003
