EUROPEAN WORKSHOP ON MOBILE AND CONTEXTUAL LEARNING.
June 20th and 21st, University of Birmingham, UK

In collaboration with the European M-Learning Forum.

The workshop is for researchers and practitioners in industry and
education with an interest in developing new approaches to mobile and
contextual learning. This includes the design of new technology and
software for mobile learning, as well as research and development in
technology-supported informal and lifelong learning. A central aim of
the workshop is to broaden the horizons of mobile learning, to explore
possibilities for experiential learning, personal learning projects, on
the job learning, and just-in-time learning. It will also provide a
showcase for new learning technologies and solutions, including wearable
learning devices, learning organisers, and multimedia content delivery
to handheld devices.

The University of Birmingham is a pioneer of research into mobile
learning and wearable technology (see http://www.eee.bham.ac.uk/handler
and http://www.eee.bham.ac.uk/wear-it). The workshop venue is equipped
with an IEEE 80211b wireless LAN system, multimedia presentation, and
ISDN and IP videoconferencing facilities.

The workshop will run from mid-day June 20th to mid-day June 21st,
including buffet lunches and a dinner on the evening of June 20th.
Conference accommodation will be available at the University.

The scope of the workshop includes, but is not limited to:

Design and implementation of mobile technology for learning
Delivery of learning materials to handheld devices
Theory and practice of anytime, anywhere learning
Content management for mobile learning
Learning organisers and personal learning assistants (PLAs)
Wearable, embedded and ubiquitous learning
Evaluation of mobile learning systems
