Three years ago we developed a menu of basic workshops that we deliver both
physically and provide a virtual version of each on-line at,
http://web.mit.edu/career/www/workshops/ . Most of these need to be updated
in a variety of ways.
An important aspect of this plan is that we are seeking to produce these
workshops as on-line/virtual first with as physical version to follow,
rather than to develop them as a physical workshop with an on-line/virtual
version to follow. This is an important distinction which from experience
we believe will change not only how we teach, but what we teach, what we
can teach, and how students can learn.
One of these that we will be updating is our workshop on competencies,
http://web.mit.edu/career/www/workshops/competencies/comp-seek.html .
In addition, this workshop was intended to be the initial workshop in a
series, this one providing the overview. It is to be followed by a series
of workshops individually dealing with each of the competencies. So, for
example we plan to develop a workshop on each of the competencies listed in
the existing competencies workshop, as listed below. We have prioritized
this list to focus on some before others. The competencies are:
- Interpersonal Relations and Diversity
- Ethics and Social Responsibility
- Team Work
- Self-Managed Learning
- Managing Change
- Leadership
- Communication
- Critical Thinking
Would any one have suggestions of websites with good models for some of
these competencies, or similar developmental workshop models?
Thanks,
Chris
