If I understand Dennis correctly he is saying I have answered my own
question by virtue of the 'taste-accept/reject' process open to us all.
I would have to say that I find his views rather idealistic and
somewhat dependant upon the security of a mythical 'free will', which in
reality is available to very few of us. I was not really intending to
embrace "most of life" or "the story of life" in the quest, but to
particularly expedite the transfer of knowledge in a specific
environment. The problem being the way the parameters of that
environment inhibit such transfer, and the discussion examining one
potential enabling strategy.
I understand the need for meaning and love and inclusion and all the
rest but that's a very different story and not one I have any wish to
get involved in. My concern was assignments, research, communication
with instructors and peers by people who are neither experts in IT nor
in philosophy, but who need to use the medium to advance their skills
base etc. As with "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" meditation
may help but I'll leave that to others to deal with.
