I agree. As a manager of instructional designers I have noticed a difference
in the way that they get satisfaction from their work. When we developed
curriculum to be delivered by instructors the instructional designers seemed
to get their satisfaction from developing effective content. Now that we are
developing mostly for asynchronous distance learning they get their
satisfaction from the mastering of and clever use of the development tools.
The curriculum is definitely taking a back seat to the technology.
